The General Directorate of intelligence and Security – DGIS announced, on Sunday, the strike on the strongholds of drug traffickers, while overthrowing( 18) wanted in various provinces.
" Separate qualitative operations based on accurate intelligence information, through which detachments of the General Directorate of intelligence and field security of the Ministry of Defense, were able to arrest (18 ) wanted for prosecution on charges of trafficking and promotion of narcotic substances” stated DGIS in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
The statement explained that " the defendants, arrested in the provinces (Baghdad, Muthanna, Diwaniyah and the Holy Karbala), issued arrest warrants against them in accordance with the provisions of Article (28 / narcotics )" , pointing out that "they were seized in possession of light weapons and quantities of various narcotic substances, and abuse tools were confiscated and they have been handed over to the concerned authorities ".
