The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced today, Saturday, the arrest of three defendants who wanted to sell a child in Baghdad.
The agency said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The Intelligence Agency’s detachments continue their qualitative operations to eliminate the phenomenon of human trafficking.
The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime/Department for Combating Human Trafficking has monitored information indicating the presence of three defendants, including a woman, who intend to sell a child of 5 years old in exchange for a sum of money.
She added, "Immediately, an intelligence team was formed, those accused of the crime were arrested, the child (the victim) was taken, and he was placed with the competent authorities for his care," noting that "the operation was carried out after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals.".
The agency called on honorable citizens to “report suspicious cases by calling the toll-free hotline (144). We thank you for your cooperation.”
