Interior Ministry announces the arrest of Asian nationality armed robbery gang in Baghdad

    Interior Ministry announced ,on Sunday, the arrest of an armed robbery gang and theft consisting of 5 Asian nationality criminals who entered the country through smuggling.

    A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that " the police work carried out by the relevant agencies and departments in the Ministry of Interior to follow up the incidents and find out the motives behind them has had positive results to find the criminals and their connections”.

    The statement continued " in the incident of the arrest of an Asian accused in azamiya area, who shot one of the employees of the Baghdad Police Command al-Rusafa near the Abu Hanifa al-Numan mosque, investigations after collecting and analyzing information and reviewing surveillance cameras by the federal intelligence and investigations agency and the intelligence unit of the 5 th division of the Federal Police, showed that the arrested accused is one of the members of a criminal network that carried out a group of armed robberies and theft consisting of (5) accused”.

    The statement added that "intelligence detachments began searching, investigating and reaching the location of this network within Baghdad al- jadeda area, where one of them fired a pistol at the force carrying out duty, and The Force reacted immediately and injured this accused and arrested all members of this network, which turned out to have entered the capital Baghdad through smuggling and its members do not have any fundamentalist documents or residence papers, and also seized a pistol and a motorcycle in their possession".

    "The necessary legal measures have been taken against them and referred them to the competent authorities to get their fair punishment" the statement pointed out.
