The Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kadhim Al-Sadiq, confirmed today, Friday, the existence of an agreement with Iraq to supply it with 50-40 million cubic meters of gas per day, while indicating the return of flows to the normal quantities agreed upon after the end of the maintenance period.
Al Sadiq told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Iran always supports Iraq in the energy file and provides its services, whether through exported gas or directly exporting electricity.”.
He added, "Recently, Iran carried out annual maintenance operations on the gas pipelines used to export it to Iraq, and there was a decline in the flows, but they were not completely interrupted, and the flows returned to their previous normal.".
He continued, "There is an agreement with Iraq stipulating the export of 50-40 million cubic meters of gas to operate power stations, which is what Tehran is working on. We confirm that next summer will witness an increase in gas flowing to Iraq."
