Al-Shammari issues orders regarding crimes of electronic blackmail

The Ministry of Interior stated Thursday, that it will keep an eye on offensive content posted on social media web sites. It also mentioned that Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari has ordered the use of realistic and scientific approaches to investigate cases of electronic blackmail. 
 
 Major General Saad Maan, the advisor to the interior minister, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "coordination exists between the Ministry of Interior represented by the Department of Security Advisor and the Department of Relations and Media and the Supreme Judicial Council" and that "campaigns are continuing regarding the follow-up and monitoring of negative contents published on social media sites and platforms."
 
Noting "the eagerness of the ministry and the Supreme Judicial Council in the past days to give an opportunity to everyone who publishes inappropriate content, intentionally or unintentionally, to think and stop publishing this content, stressing that the law is the key to anyone who deliberately abuses and harms society," Maan continued, "there are many cases that have been submitted to the Publication and Media Court and action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the law on them."
"The interior minister emphasized the need to adopt scientific and practical methods in following up on the offenders of this crime and developing performance," Maan said, "during his meeting with officials of the ministry's institutions concerned with following up on crimes of electronic blackmail."
 
"Community police, family police, and specialized departments that often work to combat crime before it occurs and have achieved an important achievement in this regard," he said, adding, "the ministry confronts crimes of electronic blackmail through security and intelligence institutions and their deterrent measures through awareness and education." 
 
"The purpose of citizens' cooperation with the Ministry of Interior is to apprehend blackmailers and direct them to the legal system," he stated.
