The Security Media Cell SMC denied, on Friday, the existence of cooperation with the American side in the attack that took place on Thursday at the Popular Mobilization headquarters.
SMC said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The US Department of Defense spokesman yesterday made a statement in which he pointed to the existence of cooperation with the Iraqi side in the attack that targeted the Popular Mobilization Commission headquarters, and while we emphasize the seriousness of such statements and the attempts they constitute of shuffling papers, we strongly deny the existence of such cooperation. On the contrary, yesterday's attack was carried out directly without the knowledge of any Iraqi military or security entity, as is the case with recent attacks that affected security sites".
The statement added "Moreover, the International Coalition Forces Member in Iraq told the deputy commander of joint operations after inquiring from him that he was not informed in advance of the implementation of this attack, which falls within the framework of a series of abuses committed by the international coalition forces in the past period and documented by the Joint Operations Command, especially the movement of military and military aviation in the Iraqi skies”.
The statement stressed that "today's attack harms the overall relationship between the Iraqi forces and the international coalition and is a clear violation of the legal mandate for which this coalition existed”.
The statement stated that " Iraqi armed forces of various kinds have been and continue to work in a team spirit under the leadership and guidance of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and are always fully prepared to defend the state and its constitutional institutions and processing all legal abuses and violations".
