SMC: Finding the bodies of Kuwaiti and Saudi citizens, explains the causes of deaths

    Security Media Cell - SMC announced on Tuesday, that the bodies of a Kuwaiti and a Saudi citizen were found in the Anbar desert.

    “Following the loss of contact with the Gulf citizens, Saudi Anwar Al-Dhfiri and Kuwaiti Faisal Al-Mutairi, who entered Iraq with a tourist visa and not for hunting purposes, the first on 17th of Dec 2023, and the second on 20th of Nov 2023. Under the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and his keen interest and follow-up, intelligence efforts and search and investigation operations were intensified in the vast desert extending between the governorates of Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Nineveh," said SMC in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The statement highlighted, "After mobilizing all efforts and allocating large units to the duty of search, investigation, and careful intelligence follow-up, the bodies of Al-Dhfairi and Al-Mutairi were found after their wheels were exposed to the explosion of an old explosive device, leftover from the terrorist Daesh, which led to the burning."

    “At a time when we offer our condolences to the governments and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, we express our sincere sorrow and sympathy to the families of the Gulf citizens, and the Iraqi side will hand over, transport and deliver the two bodies to their families, in coordination and cooperation with the embassies of the two brotherly countries in Baghdad," included in the statement.

    SMC stressed, “At a time when we stress the necessity of adhering to the provisions for obtaining an entry visa, whether it is for tourism or hunting purposes,” we stress “the necessity of adhering to the decision of the Cabinet regarding coordination regarding obtaining an entry visa into Iraqi territory, and adhering to the standards for protection and escort hunters, as well as the decision and approval of the National Security Council and recommendations issued by the relevant Ministry of Interior, regarding the conditions and standards for entry permits for hunting, mechanisms and contexts of movement, and protection of hunters.”
