NSA: Iraq did not record any violation of the common border with Iran

     National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji confirmed today, Thursday, that Iraq has not recorded any violation of the common border with Iran.

    A statement from the media office of the National Security Adviser, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “Al-Araji received in his office the Iranian Deputy Minister of Interior, Majeed Mir Ahmadi, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq, and the meeting dealt with the overall relations between the two countries, And ways to enhance security cooperation in the field of border control, smuggling prevention, and combating drugs, as well as emphasizing that the two countries are continuing to implement the provisions of the joint security agreement.”.

    Al-Araji stressed according to the statement : “the depth of the strategic relations between Iraq and Iran, and the continuation of understanding and coordination, in a way that enhances the security and stability of the region and the world,” noting that “Iraq did not record any violation of the common borders.”.

    He stressed that "it is in the interest of the two countries to cooperate to prevent any action that might threaten the common border," pointing out that "the Sudani's government constantly emphasizes its commitment to the security agreement concluded between the two countries." .

    For his part, Ahmadi stressed that “his country respects Iraq’s sovereignty and participates in resolving crises in the region,” noting that “Iraq’s success in holding provincial council elections is a success for democracy, indicating that Iran’s policy is to support the government and people of Iraq.”.

    The statement explained, "The meeting witnessed the discussion of a number of issues and files of common interest, including coordination regarding religious visits to the holy shrines."
