Media Office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA that "Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Mr. Anwar Ibrahim at His Excellency's residence in New York yesterday evening, on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly session."
The statement added that "During the meeting, they discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and expanding exchanges across various levels and fields, to the benefit of both friendly nations."
The statement pointed out that "The meeting also addressed incidents of insulting the Holy Qur'an and disgraceful acts that promote hatred and extremism. They agreed that such insults are not a form of freedom of expression but rather a clear assault on the beliefs of Muslims, which must be addressed."
The Prime Minister commended according to the statement, Malaysia's exceptional experience and the performance of Malaysian companies in the development sectors. He emphasized the significant opportunities in Iraq for infrastructure construction and the need to strengthen economic partnerships, along with other vital sectors.
PM Al-Sudani underscored Iraq's eagerness to enhance communication with friendly nations, particularly in light of the Development Road Project, which offers significant investment opportunities. He encouraged Malaysian companies to participate in the numerous projects within this ambitious initiative, the statement said.
On his part, The Malaysian Prime Minister, expressed appreciation for Iraq's influential role in the Islamic world and its economic significance in the Middle East and global energy markets. He extended an invitation to His Excellency to visit Malaysia, with the aim of further discussions and strengthening the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
