Iraq Hosts Meeting of Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee

    The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee confirmed on Saturday that The Standing Committee on Political Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly discussed eight resolutions aimed at strengthening Asian cooperation and positioning the continent as a global power.
     
    MP Haider Al-Salamitold the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that Iraq hosted the meeting, which included 44 Asian countries. Iraq currently chairs the committee and serves as Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
     
    The resolutions addressed issues including development, the Palestinian cause, and the Gaza conflict. Al-Salami added that the resolutions will be reviewed and finalized for approval at the General Assembly in Azerbaijan, which holds the assembly’s presidency.
     
    The committee focuses on political matters, sustainable development goals, and promoting closer government collaboration to enhance Asia’s influence globally.
