Iraq confirms keenness to overcome obstacles facing Faw port project

    INA - BAGHDAD 

    Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, affirmed his keenness to overcome any obstacles facing the Faw port project.

    "Al-Saadawi visited Basra Governorate, to check and follow up on work on the ministry's strategic projects," according to a statement by the Ministry of Transport, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The statement included, "The minister's first destination was the Faw Grand Port project, to follow up on the progress of work in the first five projects within the first phase of establishing the port."

    "The minister, accompanied by the Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company and the Director General of the Maritime Transport Company, inspected the port projects, and met, during his tour, the engineers residing in the project, and listened to a general briefing on the levels of achievement in the technical and construction aspects of the project," according to the statement. 

    Al-Saadawi stressed that "the grand port of Faw project tops the priorities of the government program, indicating that it will cause a quantum leap in Iraq's economy and that his visits to the ministry's projects will remain ongoing, due to their strategic importance to Iraq and the region," adding "the ministry harnesses all its capabilities in order to complete the project within the planned time period, and according to the specified specifications."

    The minister stated, "his keenness to overcome any obstacles facing the port of Faw projects, calling for redoubling efforts and working diligently to make it a success," for "Al-Saadawi intends to visit a number of the ministry's projects in Basra Governorate, as part of his field tours, to see the progress of work in them, and to overcome any obstacles facing the phases of their completion within the specified times."
