Ministry of Transportation: Al-Faw Grand Port project will be finished before its specified date

    Ministry of Transportation confirmed Friday that the grand port of Faw will be completed ahead of schedule by the end of 2024, while noting that all work requirements for the project are proceeding.

     The Director of Media and Relations at the General Company for Iraqi Ports affiliated with the Ministry of Transportation , Anmar Abdel Moneim Al-Safi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the work is being completed in the Al-Faw Grand Port project faster than planned, as a result of the accelerated pace of work to complete the project.”

     Al-Safi added, "It is agreed upon and according to the signed contract that the project will be completed by the end of the year 2025, but in a quick work manner and without any delay or obstacles, the project will be completed before its scheduled date by the end of the year 2024, and this was confirmed by the Minister of Transportation in his recent visit to the port."

     He continued that "This is confirmed by the recent completion of the concrete wall of the berths, as well as the preparation of the pillars, which are 157 pillars that have been worked on, and work began quickly in the container yard in order to fully prepare them.”

     He pointed out that "the last five projects that took place are being completed in parallel in order to complete all the works in one period of time. Likewise, the five berths, their pillars and their concrete wall are close to completion. Upon completion of the establishment and completion of the five berths, they will then be ready to receive various goods coming from the port."
