Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received an invitation today, Thursday, from the Pope of the Vatican, His Holiness Pope Francis, to participate in the World Leaders' Summit on Children's Rights, which the Vatican will organize next February, on the occasion of World Children's Day.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received a phone call from the Pope of the Vatican, His Holiness Pope Francis," adding that "the Pope invited the Prime Minister to participate in the World Leaders' Summit on Children's Rights, which the Vatican will organize next February, on the occasion of World Children's Day.".
The Prime Minister referred - according to the statement - to "the close relations between Iraq and the Vatican, and the common positions towards rejecting conflicts and wars and strengthening efforts to establish security in the world." For his part, His Holiness the Pope praised - according to the statement - Al-Sudani's efforts to calm the situation and his ongoing dialogues with the countries of the region, to reduce tension and end conflicts, which contributes to establishing regional stability and security.
