Iraq welcomes the election of Joseph Aoun as President of the Lebanese Republic

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its welcome today, Thursday, for the election of Joseph Aoun as President of the Lebanese Republic, while renewing Iraq's commitment to strengthening relations and joint cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples.

    The ministry said in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We welcome the election of General Joseph Aoun as President of the Lebanese Republic," praising "this important step towards enhancing political stability in Lebanon."

    It added, "We congratulate this achievement and hope that the president's leadership will contribute to achieving the aspirations of the brotherly Lebanese people towards a bright future of progress and prosperity."

    It continued, "Iraq, government and people, affirms its permanent support for Lebanon in facing challenges," renewing "Iraq's commitment to strengthening fraternal relations and cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples."

    It stated, "We wish President Joseph Aoun all success in performing his duties, and that the next stage will witness more stability and growth for dear Lebanon."
