Ministry of Transportation said on Sunday that a minor earthquake struck near the tri-border area between Iraq, Syria, and Turkey
. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry reported that seismic stations recorded a 3.1-magnitude earthquake close to the Iraqi-Syrian-Turkish border
. According to the Meteorological and Seismological Authority, the tremor occurred at 7:39:23 a.m. local time and was centered approximately 37 kilometers from Zakho district in Duhok province, part of the Kurdistan Region
. The ministry added that residents in nearby areas felt the tremor
