Iraq wins chairmanship of ALO’s Board of Directors for next session

    The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced on Sunday that Iraq has won the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization ALO for the next session.

    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Iraq, represented by the deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Salar Abdul Sattar, won the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization for the next session," indicating that "this came during the holding of the work of the 97th session of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization, which is hosted by the capital Baghdad at the headquarters of the American University."

    it added that "during the work of the session, which was attended by the Director-General of the Organization Fayez Al-Mutairi and its member states, a new Presidency of the Organization was elected after the vote on the election of Minister of Labor Salar Abdul Sattar as Chairman of the Board of Directors and the selection of two Vice-Presidents for employers and workers."

    Abdul Sattar stressed in a speech according to the statement that "the Iraqi government welcomes the Arab brothers in their country Iraq and has the honor to host the work of this session and commends the attendance and active participation of the members of the organization and its director general," thanking "the Algerian government for its abdication to Iraq of the chairmanship of the board of directors of the organization."

    The minister expressed his "hope that the decisions and recommendations that will bring out the work of this session will culminate in tangible results," praising "the efforts of the Director-General of the Organization Fayez Al-Mutairi in developing the performance of the Arab Organization and the efforts of the Board of Directors in reaching results and decisions that serve the issues of labor and workers in the Arab world."

    He pointed out that "the Palestinian cause is the first Arab issue by working to put an end to the Israeli practices against the Palestinian people and supporting the Palestinian people in facing the violations of the Zionist entity," referring to "the support of the Palestinian government in the Social Protection Fund."

    For his part, the Director General of the Arab Labor Organization, Fayez Al-Mutairi, praised "Iraq's hosting of the work of this session and the good reception and hospitality," offering "congratulations to the new President of the Republic Abdul Latif Rashid on his election as the new president of Iraq and his assignment of Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani as head of the government."

    Al-Mutairi stressed "his quest to emphasize the role of the three parties of production in overcoming the negatives of this reality," pointing to "the development of a plan for joint cooperation and alternative options to achieve the well-being of Arab youth."
