The Security Media Cell SMC announced Thursday the launch of the fifth phase of Solid Will Operation in the joint operations area between the units of the federal forces and the Kurdistan Region, to end the sources of terrorism.
A statement by SMC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command and according to accurate intelligence information and through continuous meetings and between the federal forces and the Peshmerga forces, this morning, the fifth phase of Solid Will Operation was launched."
The statement pointed out, "The security operation will be with the participation of the Diyala Operations Command, the controlling headquarters of the Tuz Khurmatu operations, and the leadership of the (first, second and third) Peshmerga forces, with air support from the Air Force and the Army's aviation."
The statement also added, "This operation aims to inspect the joint operations area between the units of the federal forces and the Kurdistan region within the sector of the Diyala Operations Command and the controlling headquarters of the Tuz Khurmatu operations."
It added, "The unoccupied areas, villages and separating borders will also be searched and purified in areas of common interest, to pursue the remnants of terrorist elements and those wanted by the judiciary, to end the sources of terrorism and to ensure security and stability in those areas."
