The Joint Operations Command confirmed that the number of advisers inside the Iraqi bases is very few, while noting that the mission of the international coalition has completely shifted from combat to advisory.
The spokesman for the leadership, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Supreme Military Security Committee conducted four rounds of dialogue with the international coalition, and it was agreed to leave the combat forces and shift the mission from combat to consulting, support and cooperation in the field of training and armament." Noting that "work on this began since the first meeting more than a year ago, and the Iraqi forces received about 9 headquarters."
He stressed that "the advisers are under the command of the joint operations and are directed by the security ministries."
