Joint Operations Command confirmed on Wednesday, that only advisors were left of the foreign forces in Iraq.
"The mission of the foreign forces in Iraq has shifted from combat to advisory as most of the existing combat forces left before the specified withdrawal date," said the spokesman for the Joint Ops, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "There are only advisers left of the foreign forces in Iraq, and their numbers are limited,"
Earlier on Tuesday, Joint Operations Command announced that Harir base in Erbil was out of any combat forces belonging to the international coalition, while indicating that the advisers would be distributed between Ain Al-Assad and Harir bases.
Al-Khafaji also said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, followed by (INA), that "the withdrawal of the combat forces of the international coalition from Iraq went smoothly," noting that "Harir base in Erbil is out of any combat forces of the international coalition,"
He included, "These forces completed their withdrawal before the end of this year," noting that "what remained is a small part of advisers who provide advice in the field of combating terrorism,"
“Our forces have begun to take over all the coalition camps, starting this year," he noted.
