The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, confirmed today, Saturday, that the United Nations mission will provide all kinds of support for the success of the elections of October.

"The United Nations mission will communicate with a number of civil society organizations and citizens to learn about the impact of the events of Nasiriyah on their participation in the elections," Plasschaert said during the press conference in Dhi Qar province, which was attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The United Nations mission will deploy international observers at the polling stations to contribute to the success of the elections".

Plasschaert pointed out that "The citizens' voices will be heard and that they have a great task, which is to participate in the electoral process."
