The Security Media Cell announced today, Monday, the arrest of two people accused of tearing up election posters in Baghdad.
"A special security plan developed by Baghdad Operations Command to secure the electoral process, and in order to ensure that electoral practice is conducted in a calm and stable atmospheres, Baghdad Operations Commander directed to pursue those who want to tamper with the electoral process, through tearing up the election posters of the candidates of the Iraqi parliament", according to a statement by SMC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement added, "A force from the Fifth Federal Police Brigade, in coordination with the Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation , was able to arrest two suspects while they were tearing up a number of posters of some candidates, on al-Karkh side."
The statement continued that, "They were referred to the competent authorities to take the all legal measures against them in accordance with the law."
