The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced on Tuesday, the killing of an entire detachment of ISIS criminal groups in Kirkuk province.
Rasool said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " During the emergency meeting held by the Ministerial Council for National Security on the heels of the martyrdom of a number of Federal Police heroes, The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed to avenge the righteous martyrs, as the head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, First Lieutenant General, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Saadi promised to strike the remnants of these terrorist gangs to avenge the souls of the heroic martyrs.
Rasool stressed that "the Counter-Terrorism Service managed, with its modern tactical method, to kill an entire detachment of ISIS members that were trying to attack the patrols of the security forces in Kirkuk province."
He continued, "The fighters of CTS ambushed the terrorist group after monitoring their movement by the snipers near Altun Kupri ,as they were able to kill number of them directly, while the rest of the terrorist members fleeing the confrontation , but they were chased by the air support of the international coalition that managed to destroy the den from which these criminal members launched their attacks".
Rasool also added, "The operations of the Counter-Terrorism Service are continuing to make our country free of terrorism and ideological extremism."
