INSS Captures Terrorist Plotting Attack in Tuz Khurmatu

The Iraq National Security Service (INSS) announced today, Friday, the successful apprehension of a terrorist who was planning to execute a criminal attack in Tuz Khurmatu.

In a statement provided to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the INSS reported, “A specialized unit from the National Security Service arrested a terrorist intending to carry out a bombing operation using an explosive device in the district of Tuz Khurmatu.”

The statement further disclosed, “Intelligence investigations revealed that the suspect is affiliated with the so-called ‘Wilayat Kirkuk.’ He played a critical role in providing logistical support, explosive materials, and disseminating propaganda for terrorist groups via social media. Under interrogation, the suspect admitted to being tasked by remnants of the defeated ISIS organization to target security forces in Tuz Khurmatu by planting an explosive device, which he had concealed in a cemetery.”
