The spokesman for the Commander in Chief, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced on Thursday, the arrest of 20 terrorists within 48 hours in different districts.
Rasool said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): According to the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and after the arrest of (14) terrorists during the past twenty-four hours, the formations of the Counter-Terrorism Service continued their qualitative operations to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorists’ gangs in the Iraqi provinces.
Rasool added, CTS captured (6) members of ISIS criminal gangs and thwarting another attempt to detonate power transmission towers.
The forces of CTS started at dawn their operation in the provinces of of (Diyala - Kirkuk - Salah al-Din), as they were able to arrest (3) wanted terrorists, Rasool continued.
He pointed out that "the 22nd Brigade in the Sixth Division of the Iraqi army managed to thwart an attempt to detonate the energy towers in the north of the capital, Baghdad - Taji district, after receiving intelligence information.
In the same context, Rasool indicated that CTS continues its distinguished cooperation with Asayish of Kurdistan Region in the Sulaymaniyah province as they were able to arrest (3) members of ISIS terrorist gangs, pointing out that the number of terrorists who were arrested reached (20) member in less than 48 hours.
