The White house: President Biden looks forward to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation during Al-Kadhimi visit

    White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki confirmed on Saturday, that President Joe Biden is looking forward to strengthening cooperation between Iraq and US, during the visit of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

     

    Psaki said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA):President Biden looks forward to welcoming the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, to the White House on July 26, 2021. 

     

    The Prime Minister’s visit will highlight the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq and advance bilateral cooperation under the Strategic Framework Agreement. The visit will also focus on key areas of shared interest including through education, health, cultural, energy, and climate initiatives. President Biden also looks forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Iraq on political, economic, and security issues to include joint efforts to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS, the statement said.

     

     

    The advisor of Prime Minister had revealed earlier Al-Kadhimi will visit number of Western countries at a later time, while indicating that he will discuss in Washington the file of the withdrawal of US combat forces.

     

    He also said that the discussions that Prime Minister will hold during his upcoming visit to the United States will focus on the withdrawal of US forces as there is a popular supportive stance for that, indicating the seriousness of the American side in holding bilateral talks.
