The Ministry of Electricity announced that it had concluded a contract with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to implement the agreement to connect the electric grid and sell energy between the two countries, indicating that the contract included Jordan supplying Iraq with 150 megawatts of energy.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that it "concluded a contract with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in the conference hall at the ministry's headquarters, to implement the draft agreement to connect the electrical grid and sell energy between the two countries, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Production Affairs (on behalf of the minister) Adel. Karim, Jordanian Energy Minister Hala Zawati and the Jordanian ambassador in Baghdad," noting that "the contract was signed by the Iraqi side, the Director-General of the General Company for Electricity Transmission for the Central Region, Brak Saad Nour Al-Shamrati, and for the Jordanian side by the Director General of the National Electricity Company, Amjad Al-Rawashdeh."
