Salih stresses the need to ease regional tensions by adopting brotherly dialogue

    The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed on Thursday, the importance of easing tensions in the region by relying on good dialogue.
     
    The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA that President Salih received the US National Security Council's coordinator for Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, and his accompanying delegation.
    During the meeting, both sides discussed the bilateral relations between and ways to enhance them in the political, economic and cultural fields in the context of the existing strategic dialogue between the two countries in accordance with common interests and respect for sovereignty. As both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing to combat terrorism and eradicating its roots in the whole region.
     
    The statement added that the latest regional and international developments were also discussed, as President Barham Salih stressed the importance of easing tensions in the region by relying on good dialogue and convergence, noting that Iraq's security and protection of its stability and full sovereignty is an indispensable element in the stability and peace of the region.
    Salih confirmed the necessity of coordination in confronting the challenges of terrorism, confronting the phenomenon of climate change and protecting the environment, the statement added.
