The Iranian government expressed its readiness to provide medical aid to the wounded in the Al-Hussein Hospital accident in Dhi Qar province.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the Iraqi people in this painful incident, expressing hope "for mercy for the victims, and a speedy recovery for those wounded."
Meanwhile, the Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, expressed, during a phone call with Iraqi Ministry of Health officials, his regret over the incident, offering his "condolences to the Iraqi people, the country's officials, and the families of the victims and those injured in the hospital fire incident.
While the Iraqi officials expressed their thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing that this measure embodies the humanitarian spirit and good-neighborliness of Iranian officials.
Earlier, On Monday evening a large fire broke out in Al-Naqa Center at Imam Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital for the treatment of covid-19 patients in the city of Nasiriyah, southern Iraq, as the fire resulted the martyrdom of 64 people and the injury of 50 others.
