Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kazem Abdel-Sahib, called for holding an Arab conference for private universities and colleges and studying the establishment of a fund to support scientific research.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Abdul-Sahib received a delegation from the Applied Science Private University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which included University President Mahfouz Judeh and Professor of Cancer Biology and Immunology at the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Wamid Hadi Talib, and in the presence of the Director of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations Dr. Hazim Baqer Taher.
According to the statement, the Minister of Education stressed the importance of holding an international Arab conference for private universities and colleges in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities to conduct a comprehensive review that contributes to enriching knowledge, updating the extent of innovations, and setting plans responsible for scientific, financial and administrative regulation to serve quality requirements and determining the output path in accordance with the requirements of academic accreditation and strengthening fields in which scientific experiments can be cross-fertilized to ensure the benefit of the Arab countries according to the priorities responsible for the determinants of scientific and economic feasibility. He explained that "there is an urgent need for concerted efforts to advance Arab scientific research, enhance the international reputation, and benefit from specialized applied research, especially in the medical and health fields.
