Government Media Cell announced the outcome of the attacks that targeted power transmission towers in the country, while confirming that it resulted in the death and injury of 18 people, and damage to 61 main lines.
"The attacks against the Ministry of Electricity resulted in the death of 7, the wounding of 11, and the damage of (61) main lines,'' according to a statement by the Cell, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The staff restored the work of the system by 16,000 megawatts. The Ministry of Electricity was subjected to media attacks by publishing data attributed to the ministry, aimed at confusing public opinion and encouraging some of the weak-minded to bypass a number of stations in all provinces,'' included the statement.
The cell explained that "the media attacks contributed to doubling the electricity supply crisis after promoting social media images and videos dating back to previous years. The purpose of which is to level up criticism and attacks against the ministry,"
''The engineering and technical staff of the Ministry of Electricity mobilized their utmost efforts to repair the networks which was affected by sabotage in all cities, and was able, via continuous work, to reach the production of (16,000) megawatt,''
