Iran's Power Generation, Distribution, and Transmission Company (known as Tavanir) announced Saturday the reopening of Bushehr nuclear plant in the south of the country, and its connection to the network, after it was shut down since June 20 due to a technical failure.
Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, a spokesman for state-run power company TAVANIR, said that Bushehr nuclear plant has resumed operations after being shut down days ago for an overhaul.
Mashhadi added that with the return of Bushehr station to work, 1,000 megawatts of electricity will be injected into country's distribution network.
Earlier, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said that due to a technical failure at the Bushehr plant, work has been suspended temporarily and it has been cut off from the national electricity network, without specifying the nature of the problem at the plant.
