The Communications and Media Committee in the House of Representatives discussed today, Thursday, the fate of the Information Crimes Law.
The head of the committee, Naim Al-Aboudi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the information crimes law is ready, and in the coming sessions it will be presented to the members of Parliament for a vote."
He pointed out that "the second reading of the law took place and all the observations of the representatives, some intellectuals and civil society organizations were taken, and several seminars were held in this regard."
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, confirmed earlier that the draft law on information crimes, as amended by the parliament, will be enacted to protect the citizen's security and preserve his privacy, while the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced, on the third of last October, that the law protects society from electronic extortion.
