A delegation of demonstrators and notables of Dhi Qar Governorate intends to make a visit to the capital, Baghdad, carrying a list of demands.
"There is a support from military leaders to facilitate the arrival of a delegation from Dhi Qar Governorate carrying legitimate demands to the higher authorities," said al-Rafidain Operations Commander, Major General Jabbar Al-Tai to Iraqi News Agency INA.
He noted that the security forces in al-Rafidain Operations Command are working to open the international road and persuade the demonstrators to return to the protesting areas inside the city and facilitate the delegation's arrival in Baghdad.
Earlier, the Command had confirmed that there were attempts to return the demonstrators to Al-Haboubi Square in Dhi Qar Governorate.
"The aim of demonstrators return to Al-Haboubi Square is to maintain life and the peaceful protests as well as provide protection for the demonstrators," said Major General Al-Tai and noted, "there is communication with the leaders of the demonstration in order to return to Al-Haboubi Square,"
He also added, "Tribal Sheikhs have a large role, interference and influence on the demonstrators," noting that "there is a response from the elders and there were more than 100 clan elders communicating and cooperating in order to persuade the demonstrators to return to Al-Haboubi Square,"
