UN representative in Iraq Janine Hennes Plachkart expressed her sadness over the casualties of death and injuries that occurred during the protests.
Plachkart also condemned destroying the public and private possessions as she expressed her worries regarding the attempts of some armed groups that are working on threatening the stability in the country and trying to affect the peaceful image of the protests and their legal demands.
“Protecting the innocents is a priority and armed forces should be held accountable. Iraqi went through a lot and will not be able to bare any return to violence zone. It is sad to see the return of violence and many killed or injured,” said Plachkart.
On the same time, she praised the efforts of the security forces in terms of dealing with injuries and cooperating with protesters.
