INA – BAGHDAD
President Barham Salih received the U.S. Chargé d'affaires Joey Hood in Baghdad on Sunday.
During the meeting both have discussed the latest political developments at regional and international levels.
Salih asserted Iraq's keenness to pursue a constructive dialogue when addressing the crises in the region, and to be apart from the policies of wars.
The President indicated that Iraq's stance towards the crises of the region stems from the commitment to its national policies and the country’s supreme interest.
At the same time, Salih called for the need that Iraq steer clear from the effects of conflicts and crises in accordance to its national interests for stability and prosperity.
He also stressed the need to establish a stable regional system based on common security system, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
“It is important to build balanced relations with all countries on the basis of respect for sovereignty and mutual interests,” added Salih.
The meeting also stressed the depth of the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America, and the need to enhance them in a way that ensures the common interests between the two countries and fulfils the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
