Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, praised Iraq's efforts to strengthen joint Arab action on Monday.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein held a phone call with Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region and the challenges facing Arab countries."
According to the statement, Aboul Gheit expressed his "appreciation for the Iraqi government's support for the League of Arab States in various fields," praising "Iraq's efforts to strengthen joint Arab action."
"The two sides discussed the most prominent crises facing the region and ways to address them in a way that contributes to achieving regional security and stability."
The two sides emphasized "the importance of strengthening joint coordination to confront current challenges," emphasizing "the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to resolve crises in a way that serves the interests of the Arab peoples and enhances joint Arab cooperation."
