MOFA promotes the positive role of cultural diplomacy and supports Iraq's active presence in international forums

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed, on Thursday, its commitment to promoting the positive role of cultural diplomacy and supporting Iraq's active presence in international forums.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, Ambassador Hisham Al-Alawi, received in his office today the Coordinator of the Communications and Information Sector at UNESCO Iraq, Diaa Thabet Al-Saray, and the Director of the Baghdad Visions Center, Ghassan Al-Hasani, to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the fields of cultural diplomacy and community media."

    The statement added that "the meeting discussed developments in the "Communication and Community Media for Peace" project and the mechanisms for involving the Cultural Diplomacy Committee, headed by Al-Alawi, in supporting and implementing the project's objectives." It indicated that "the committee, which was established by a royal decree at the end of last year, works to coordinate efforts between government institutions to enhance Iraq's cultural presence in international forums."

    The Ministry explained that "the meeting emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNESCO, and the Baghdad Visions Center to ensure the achievement of shared goals, enhance the positive role of cultural diplomacy and community media in consolidating the values ​​of coexistence and peace, and support Iraq's active presence in international forums."

    According to the statement, Al-Alawi emphasized "the importance of ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNESCO," noting "the pivotal role the Ministry plays in supporting cultural and development initiatives through its diplomatic channels, which contributes to achieving national priorities."

    For his part, Al-Saray emphasized "UNESCO's commitment to developing targeted community and media programs, within the framework of its mandate to support cultural development in Iraq."

    Al-Hasani emphasized "the importance of activating strategic partnerships to enhance the positive impact of cultural and media projects in Iraqi society."
