Xinhua reported on Monday that the death toll from the recent earthquake in Myanmar has exceeded 2,000.
"The death toll from the earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday has risen to 2,056, while approximately 3,900 people were injured, and around 270 people are believed to be still missing," the agency quoted the State Administrative Council.
Earlier, Myanmar PM Min Aung Hlaing declared a week of national mourning for the earthquake victims.
Previous reports put the death toll at 1,700, with 3,400 injured and 300 missing.
