A fire erupted at Disney's Epcot theme park in Orlando, Florida, leading to a massive evacuation. The fire, which originated in the France Pavilion of Epcot, sent plumes of black smoke into the sky.

A representative for Disney confirmed that the fire started in a backstage area of the pavilion and was swiftly extinguished. Social media users speculated that a walk-in cooler may have ignited the blaze.

    Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Epcot, which welcomes approximately 32,876 visitors daily, stands for "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,". It was initially conceived by Walt Disney as a utopian city showcasing the future of technology and communal living.

Although this grand vision has evolved over time, the spirit of innovation remains at the heart of Epcot. The park is split into two main sections: Future World and World Showcase, reports The Mirror US.

Epcot has had a few fire incidents in the past, but they were generally quickly contained and did not result in significant damage. One notable event took place during the early years of the park.

On Epcot's opening night in 1982, a small electrical fire broke out in the set of the Spaceship Earth attraction. This incident occurred on the very first day of the park's operation, but it was contained without any major issues.

The ride had to be temporarily closed, but the fire did not cause significant damage or affect the overall operation of the park.

In the 1990s, a fire broke out in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT due to a cooking mishap in one of the pavilion's eateries. The blaze was swiftly put out, with no significant injuries reported.

The pavilion was temporarily shut down to deal with the aftermath and guarantee guest safety.
