Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, announced on Wednesday, the Arab ministers decision to form a ministerial communication committee to follow up on the Ukrainian crisis, which includes countries (Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, and the Arab member of the Security Council) in order to communicate with all concerned parties to encourage them to find a political solution to the crisis.

"We agreed on the need to reach a quick settlement to end the crisis because that would lead to stabilizing the situation," said Aboul Gheit in a joint press conference with the current president of the 157th session of the Arab League Council and Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib, at the conclusion of the Arab League Council meeting, attended by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

He added, "We discussed the repercussions of the war in Ukraine," warning about the effects on various Arab countries, especially in the economic field with regard to energy and grain prices, "The issue has received extensive discussions,"

"The Arab League believes in the necessity of adopting a diplomatic solution, which leads to settlements that end the crisis," he noted.

On the other hand, Aboul Gheit confirmed that "Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra informed his Arab counterparts of his country's intention to hold the next Arab summit on the 1st and 2nd days of next November," noting "the ministers discussed the topic of the summit and listened to a report on it from the Algerian minister, and the Arab League countries endorsed Algeria's proposal regarding the date of the summit and did not object,”

"Starting from October, 24th and 25th to November 2nd, the university will be in a period of intense work for a joint Arab action in Algeria,” he included.

On the issue of Syria's seat return in the Arab League, Aboul Gheit explained, "This issue was not discussed in the general context or the general Arab framework today, neither in the consultative meeting nor in the ministerial meetings of the regular session of the League Council, because this issue will be left for bilateral communication between the Arab countries and each other, If there is an agreement to return to the membership, it will be done. But, I have not observed this consensus yet,”

He pointed out that the participation of 18 Arab foreign ministers in today's meeting reflects the enthusiasm of Arab countries to activate joint Arab action.
