Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Israeli actions violate international humanitarian law.

Aboul Gheit said in a speech during a meeting of the League Council in an extraordinary session at the ministerial level, according to a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We are meeting today not only to condemn what is happening in occupied Jerusalem and in the occupied Palestinian territories in general, but to send a clear message. To the world that the situation in Palestine is not sustainable in this way, "indicating that" the calm, which the occupation has always claimed, is nothing but calm on the surface, hides under it the elements of an explosion and escalation. " 

He added that "its effects will not stop at the borders of the region. We saw only yesterday how the Israeli escalation could lead to indiscriminate and uncontrolled attacks that only reflect a desire to show strength and score political points at home at the expense of the blood of children in Gaza." 
Iraq is participating in a ministerial meeting of the Arab League on Jerusalem.
