The Arab League expressed, on Friday, thanks to Iraq for its interest in hosting the Arab Summit.
"The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, headed by Ambassador Hussam Zaki, headed a high-level delegation from the General Secretariat on a visit to Baghdad, commissioned by the Secretary-General of the Arab League; to communicate with the Iraqi side and monitor the ongoing preparations to host the upcoming Arab Summit in Iraq during January 29-30, 2025," according to a statement by the League - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
Ambassador Zaki explained in press statements at the end of the visit and after the delegation was received by PM Muhammed S. al-Sudani, that "the delegation thanked him for the high interest of the Iraqi government in hosting a successful Arab Summit and harnessing all the capabilities it needs to be at the level of the expectations of the member states."
"The League's keenness to harness all efforts and expertise necessary to achieve the desired goals of the summit," said Ambassador Zaki, after the delegation met with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
Zaki added that "the meeting witnessed an exchange of views on the overall situation. The delegation presented its previous experiences and expertise and its views in order to facilitate the tasks of the specialized technical committees formed by the government to supervise the organizational aspects."
"The delegation visited some of the hotels proposed to host the delegations of the countries, and the delegation also visited the halls where the meetings are planned to be held and reviewed all the details being implemented to prepare them appropriately," he said, expressing "the delegation's satisfaction with the facilities it reviewed and that are being prepared by Iraq to receive Arab leaders and delegations of member states and provide a suitable atmosphere for the success of the Arab Summit."
