Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed on Saturday that the government is serious about supporting oil companies and overcoming logistical obstacles, noting the procedures to facilitate the work of these companies.

"The ministry is working in response to the directives of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani to prepare a comprehensive study to address the challenges facing companies operating in oil fields, especially in Basra Governorate," said Abdul Ghani in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He pointed out, "The study will include a detailed analysis of the obstacles facing companies, most notably the procedures for obtaining entry visas for workers, in addition to the security permits and approvals necessary to enter oil sites, as no one is allowed to enter these fields without prior permission."

"The Ministry of Oil has taken actual steps to accelerate the process of obtaining security approvals and is working to address the logistical challenges that hinder the work of some companies, including the means of transportation used to supply the materials needed for oil contracts. These procedures aim to facilitate the work of these companies," he highlighted.

Abdul Ghani noted that "an expanded meeting will be held soon in Basra Governorate, with the participation of all companies facing operational difficulties; to develop practical solutions that contribute to facilitating their work within the various oil sites in Basra and the rest of the governorates."

"The Ministry of Oil is serious about removing obstacles facing companies and will participate effectively in preparing the study in coordination with the PM's Office; to ensure simplifying procedures and enhancing the work environment in the oil sector," he explained.

Earlier, on Wednesday, PM Al-Sudani directed the preparation of a study on the nature of the obstacles to the work of oil companies in Basra.

This came during a meeting he chaired that included several representatives of oil companies and subcontractors working on several oil projects in Basra Governorate.
