The Ministry of Transport - MOT set a date next Monday for the flights to Lebanon to be resumed.
"In line with the directives of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani to meet the needs of Iraqi guests from Lebanese citizens wishing to return to their country voluntarily, the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, set next Monday a date to resume flights to Lebanon," according to a statement by MOT - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement quoted the Director General of Iraqi Airways, Manaf Abdul-Moneim, as saying that "the company has completed all technical and logistical preparations to resume voluntary evacuation flights, while scheduled flights between Baghdad and Beirut will resume as of January 1st, 2025."
"This procedure will facilitate air traffic between Iraq and Lebanon to enhance trade and tourism exchange between the two brotherly countries," added the statement.
The Iraqi Airways Company called on "the honorable passengers to benefit from the resumption of operation of this vital line, which will witness the implementation of seven flights per week, and the number of flights will be doubled according to the volume of demand and the assessment of circumstances."
