Iraqi Airways announced the resumption of direct flights between Iraq and Georgia.
The company said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The direct flights of the national carrier between Iraq and Georgia have resumed after a hiatus that lasted nearly nine years, as the first flight took off this evening within the Baghdad-Erbil-Tbilisi route."
The company's general manager, Manaf Abdel Moneim, confirmed during his field supervision of the implementation of the first flight, that "this step falls within the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muheibis Al-Saadawi, to increase the number of destinations of the national carrier, in line with government directives to open up to various countries of the world."
He added, "The rate of flights will be a weekly flight (on Thursday) as a first stage, to be increased during the coming period," pointing out at the same time, "The service of granting entry visas to Georgian lands has become available in all Iraqi Airways offices, provided that Submission of the required documents within a period ranging from 7 to 10 days before the date of the flight.
