Iraqi Ali Yasser wins nine gold medals in two International Championships

    The Iraqi National Olympic Committee announced on Monday that weightlifter Ali Yasser won nine gold medals in the Arab and Qatar International Championships.


    "Weightlifter Ali Ammar Yasser continued his brilliance in weightlifting, winning nine gold medals in the Arab and Qatar International Championships, which were held in Doha, Qatar," said the Olympic Committee's media office in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.


    Yasser, competing in the +109 kg weight class, won three gold medals in the Arab Championship for the advanced category, and three other gold medals in the junior category in the same championship, in addition to three gold medals in the Qatar International Championship.


    "The technical committee unanimously named the champion weightlifter Ali Ammar Yasser as the best player in the championships and awarded him a special cup for the title, as he drew attention to himself with great merit and numbers resulting in him being ahead of everyone," included the statement.


    The President of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation, Muhammed Kadhim Muzal, expressed "his happiness with this great achievement, which is added to the record of achievements of the game, stressing that "the distinguished results of weightlifting come thanks to the sound planning of the Federation and the great support provided by the President of the National Olympic Committee, Aqil Muftan, and his colleagues in the Executive Office of the Federation in general, and for the promising weightlifter Ali Ammar in particular."
