MOT: Signing a consultative, executive contract with IATA

    The Ministry of Transport - MOT announced on Tuesday, that it has achieved important practical steps within its efforts to lift the European ban on Iraqi Airlines, revealing the signing of a consultative and executive contract with the International Air Transport Association - IATA to support this file.

    “The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas, attaches great importance to the issue of lifting the European ban on Iraqi Airlines, as it continues to work to complete the procedures for lifting the ban and implementing the requirements IATA,” according to a statement from the ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. 

    The statement included, “Among the important steps achieved in this file is the signing by the Director General of Iraqi Airways, Manaf Abdul Moneim, of a consultative and executive contract with IATA, represented by the IATA Vice President for the Middle East and Africa, Kamel Al-Awadi. The terms of the contract will be implemented within a month of the signing. This will be followed by the signing of the second phase contract, known as (CAP), which is the second step in fulfilling the requirements for lifting the European embargo according to specific time limits.”

    “This step, which comes in the context of obtaining the international IOSA certificate and the Third Country Operator - TCO certificate, will contribute to raising the level of safety performance in the company and paving the way for the return of its membership again in IATA, in addition to what this step has achieved positive returns on the technical and commercial aspects of the national carrier," added in the statement.


    Abdul Moneim stated that the reasons for the ban imposed on Iraqi Airlines came as a result of observations recorded by the European Safety Agency with observations recorded on the Civil Aviation Authority, which is a joint file between the airlines and the authority.
