UNESCO and Sectoral Council announce the development of a tourism strategy

    The Tourism Sector Council in Iraq announced today, Wednesday, the development of a tourism strategy and studies for 2025 that support the tourism file.

    The head of the council, Aziz Al-Tamimi, said in a press statement, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We are pleased and proud to congratulate the Iraqi people, the Iraqi government, and all brothers and sisters working in the tourism sector on the occasion of choosing Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for the year 2025," considering that "Iraq's success in passing the required tourism standards resulted from the combination of all efforts aimed at strengthening the tourism sector in the country."

    He added, "The role of the free and professional Iraqi media in all respected Iraqi media institutions, whether satellite channels, news agencies, newspapers, or social media sites, contributed through their media focus to conveying a bright and clear image of the country with all its spectra and soil from Al-Faw to Zakho."

    Al-Tamimi stressed that "the Tourism Sector Council in Iraq has worked throughout the past period in cooperation with UNESCO in Iraq and the Ministries of Planning, Education and Higher Education, Labor, Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, the Tourism Authority and all entities supporting the tourism sector, in line with the government program prepared by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, which gave priority to supporting tourism and tourism investment in the country and giving a role to the Iraqi private tourism sector."

    He pointed out that "the council has developed a tourism strategy and studies for the year 2025 that will contribute to supporting the tourism file, as the council focuses on supporting all tourism sectors at the level of hotels, travel and tourism companies, airlines and all tourism facilities in their diversity."

    Al-Tamimi concluded by saying, "We hope to invest in Baghdad's status as the Arab Tourism Capital for the year 2025 in order to promote and highlight the most important archaeological, religious, and cultural landmarks and holy sites in the land of Mesopotamia."
