President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed on Monday Iraq's keenness on the stability of Syria and the security of the region.
The Media Department of the Presidency of the Republic, said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today at Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Iraq, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah."
The statement added that "the meeting witnessed developments in the security situation in Syria, stressing "Iraq's support for consolidating stability, and working to prevent the expansion of conflict."
The President of the Republic explained that "the developments of events in Syria and their repercussions on the region as a whole are of great interest," noting that "Iraq has worked to strengthen international peace and security."
According to the statement, the President of the Republic was briefed on the latest developments in the Syrian arena, praising Iraq's "positions in support of Syria."
