The financial advisor to the Prime Minister Mazhar Mohammed Saleh underscored on Wednesday that census data will be pivotal in directing government investments to enhance infrastructure and services. He highlighted that national development plans will depend on the outcomes of the census.

In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Saleh emphasized, "The census is a key strategic tool for achieving sustainable economic growth in Iraq."

He elaborated, "The data resulting from this census will significantly improve government administration, enhance levels of governance, support investments, and optimize the use of resources to achieve comprehensive economic development."

Saleh detailed several essential aspects of the comprehensive population census that contribute to these goals:

    1. Infrastructure and Services: Identifying areas with deficiencies in services and infrastructure, directing government investments to sectors such as water services, roads, electricity, schools, hospitals, and banks.

    1. Housing Policies: Providing a detailed database for effective housing policies.

    1. Labor Force Development: Supplying detailed labor force data, enabling the government to develop policies for employment support, workforce training, and stimulation of productive sectors, thereby serving the national economy.

    1. Comprehensive Planning: Facilitating the collection of accurate information on population size, geographical distribution, age groups, and educational levels. This aids both the government and private sector in better planning, identifying economic priorities, and formulating optimal policies within national development plans, particularly the 2024-2028 development plan.
